Functions of the Oral Cavity:
1. Receives the food. 2. Chews the food. Mechanical digestion. 3. Mixes the saliva, begins to break down carbohydrates. |

Gastric Juices Components & Functions:
HCI - The acidic environment of it activates enzymes. Renin - This digests most of the proteins, Pepsin - Enzyme that digest most proteins, degrades them to peptines. |

The major functions of the colon are to absorb the remaining water and electrolytes from indigestible food that is left, to accept and store food remains that were not digested in the small intestine; and to eliminate solid waste from the body. The colon acts as the last and final step of digestion.
Diarrhea - There are several possible causes of diarrhea, it could be caused from not digesting certain lactose products, wheat, and other grains.
